Policy Summary South Africa’s Technological Innovation Agency (TIA) was launched on 29 October 2010. In terms of the TIA Act [No 26 of 2008], the object of the agency is to support the state in stimulating and intensifying technological innovation to improve economic growth and the quality of life of all South Africans by developing and exploiting technological innovations. Th is in support of the National Development Plan (NDP) that highlights that Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) is key to equitable growth, underpinning economic advances and improvement in health systems, education and infrastructure.
