This paper published by the United Nations Human Settlements Programme in 2016 titled “Fundamentals of urbanisation: Evidence base for policy making” provides authoritative data, and qualitative and quantitative information on urban trends and conditions in the world’s cities. This paper was recommended background reading for the 2017 Public Economics Winter School on the topic of housing and urban development.
