Description
Phemelo Mahamuza from the Gauteng City-Region Observatory (GCRO) presented a report on how spatial validation was used to track government expenditure on health facility constructions. The aim of the study was to evaluate the application of remote sensing technology in monitoring and assessing government expenditure, with a focus on the construction phases of public projects.
She found that there is a critical need for accurate and active geolocation of infrastructure projects to ensure effective monitoring and assessment and that machine learning classification algorithms do provide a unique solution to enable the bulk validation of infrastructure projects.
