Investigation into the Efficiency and Effective use of the Lindela Detention Centre under Department of Home Affairs – Spending Review Report

From a budget perspective, there is always a shortfall or excess expenditure on property management and nutrition services for the detainee in the Lindela holding facility. Furthermore, there are always allegations of inadequacies in the healthcare system, a general failure to properly inform detainees of their legal rights, and detainees being held for excessively long periods of time, as well as the conditions that the detainees have to endure. Therefore, there is a call to investigate as to whether the Lindela detention facility (named Lindela Repatriation Centre) is being efficiently and effectively managed by the both the service provider and the Department of Home Affairs.
