This document presents the detailed costing that underpins the spending review summarised below.

The aim of this spending review is to identify duplication of functions1 within the DoJCD’s Administration, National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) (Support Services) and Court Services (Administration of Lower Courts) programmes. Also, to explore the possibility of having a single corporate/support service function in the department, with the aim of realising savings. At present, expenditure on corporate/support functions across DoJCD’s Administration, NPA and Court Services programmes for financial years 2017/18 to 2019/20 amounts to R1.75 billion per annum.
