COMMON LESSONS LEARNT: HUMAN PAPILLOMA VIRUS (HPV) VACCINATION PROGRAMME

The webinar focused on the roll out of the HPV vaccine to schools. The spending review is a review and consolidation of findings and recommendations of previous spending reviews undertaken on the HPV programme​. It proposes that consideration should be given to ending the conditional grant and transferring the funds to the provincial equitable share, to allow for greater integration with other health programmes. This should improve the programme’s effectiveness and lead to cost savings, as annual training costs can be reduced. Consideration should be given to expanding the vaccine to boys to further prevent the spread of the virus.
