Case Study on the Public Private Partnership Between Eastern Cape Department of Health and Life Healthcare Group in the Humansdorp District Hospital

The Kouga Partnership Hospital is a co-location PPP situated in Humansdorp in the Cacadu district of the Eastern Cape. The hospital comprises the 80-bed Humansdorp District Hospital and the 30-bed Isivivana Private Hospital. The PPP process started in 1999 when the ECDoH invited private health sector providers to submit proposals for a partnership with the department to refurbish and upgrade the buildings and equipment in the Humansdorp Hospital. This case study describes the process and results in detail.
