A Review of Labour Markets in South Africa: Labour Market Regulation: International and South African Perspectives

The purpose of this paper is to provide an overview of existing literature concerning the rationale for labour market regulation. The paper consists of two parts: A survey of literature concerning the rationale for the legal regulation of the labour market; and an analysis of debates in South Africa concerning labour market regulation in the light of the international survey.
