This course will provide an overview of key contemporary tax policy issues in South Africa as an emerging market economy. It explores the principles on which analysis of the issues are based, reflects on empirical evidence pertaining to developing countries in general and explores policy implications.
This course will focus on city infrastructure, with special emphasis on the role of cities in contributing to economic growth. Projects and interesting case studies will be used throughout the course to give scholars a nuanced understanding of how politics can shape public institutions.
Infrastructure is a key enabler of economic and social life. This course will look at economic infrastructure holistically, and address the economic policy principles that need to be considered when choosing the best funding and financing mixes for infrastructure investment.
