Weekly Webinars

The aim of the GTAC weekly webinar series is to share knowledge and have robust discussions on a number of broad themes such as strategic projects and initiatives by GTAC, strategic outcomes of government, public sector administration and policy analysis, global events, major social issues and so much more…

The Topic this week is…

This week our upcoming webinar is on Municipal Supply Chain Management (SCM). SCM is a function which is extremely vulnerable to fraud and corruption, and therefore needs effective regulation and controls to ensure probity of municipal spending. However, the complexity of SCM regulation can create uncertainty and delay the acquisition of key goods and services needed for service delivery, the rollout of critical infrastructure or result in higher prices. These can undermine municipalities’ performance, creating a trade-off between probity and compliance and service delivery performance.

Come join us this Friday as Prof Tania Ajam from Stellenbosch University’s School for Public Leadership shares insights from her recent research on how municipalities navigate this difficult trade-off between SCM probity/compliance and performance, which will enhance your understanding of SCM within the municipal context. Hope to see you there!
