Presented by Mr Nkosiphindile “Nkosie” Shange, Economist at the Bureau for Economic Research (BER), this session will unpack the drivers behind current inflation dynamics, assess the economic implications, and explore whether there is merit in advocating for a lower inflation target in South Africa.

Mr Shange has more than 14 years of experience in finance, economic and policy research, and lecturing undergraduate economics Nkosie brings a wealth of expertise to this critical discussion. His current research at the BER focuses on industrial policy, manufacturing, and the Purchasing Managers Index. He is also pursuing a PhD in Economics at the University of Pretoria, where he investigates how domestic and global shocks influence South African economic performance and inflation.
